Descriptions of Common Arm Injuries and Conditions

Dr. Craig Neleson

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

This is a disorder where there is increased pain in the arm with even light touch of the skin. There are two types of CRPS.Type I is where there is diffuse pain without any documented nerve injury.  Alternatively, Type II is where there is diffuse pain with documented nerve injury. Both can occur after a traumatic injury, although there are other causes.  Early treatment with a stellate ganglion block could help prevent longstanding pain issues.
