Tendonitis

Inflammation of the tendon, which sometimes can have slight deterioration of the tendon and be amenable to a steroid or “cortisone” injection. However, if there is impingement or squeezing of the tendon, surgery may be indicated.

Trigger Finger (stenosing tenosynovitis)

Inflammation of the flexor tendons in the hand that getting trapped in the sheath of tissue called the A1 pulley. This inflammation can be treated initially with a steroid, sometimes called cortisone injection, or release of the A1 pulley either by open incision or percutaneously. Although it can affect any finger, the thumb and ring finger are most commonly affected.
