De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis

This is irritation on the radial aspect of the wrist due to inflammation of 2 tendons (abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis) in the tendon sheath.  This can be treated with bracing and steroid injections.

Intersection Syndrome

This is irritation of the tendons that are involved in De Quervain’s tenosynovitis but further up in the forearm.

Guyon’s Canal Syndrome

Disc causes numbness in the pinky region of the hand and is due to compression of the ulnar nerve in the wrist. This may be amenable to injections of a steroid under ultrasound guidance.
